How to solve water shortage problems in case of emergency ?

Emergencies can come any time. I can still remember Hurricane Sandy. When you get any emergency warnings , then first thing in our action plan is to stock food and water. We go to stores and buy bottled water. We can stock drinking water but it becomes really difficult to stock water for other usages.

I got a complimentary kit of Emergency Water Storage System- The Reservoir for review purpose. I had no idea that such a product exists and we can hold up to 100 Gallon of clean water in our bath tub.
That sounds amazing, The Reservoir is designed to make your bathtub a sanitary storage tank.

When I opened the box, I found 3 pieces and an instruction paper.
It took me around 15 minutes to understand and setup Reservoir in my bathtub. Reservoir kit has following :-
  • Plastic Liner to hold water. It has 2 caps. One is used to fill water and one is used to take water from reservoir.
  • Plastic Stocking kind of pipe which is connected to tap and directs water to reservoir.
  • Siphon pump which is used to fill jug or pitcher.
It was easy to setup this reservoir kit. First of all I covered bathtub with liner.

Then opened cap near to the tap area and connected plastic stocking with tap. I  had to hold this stocking with one hand. Then filled the reservoir. I filled it partial only.

Once reservoir was filled , then I remove plastic stocking and closed the cap. When ever water is required, we can easily open another cap which is in middle of the reservoir. We have to attach suction pump and pump it to take water out in jug or bucket.

Normally in emergency situations we can also store water directly in bathtub. But that is not clean and sanitized. With the help of this liner, we can stock clean and pure water. It keeps water free from germs, soap residues , chemicals and dirt.  As per company, this liner is made of food-grade plastic that meets FDA safety standards. It means we can store drinking water in this reservoir.

I found it very useful. It is a nice add to my emergency kit. Only change which I could suggest is in plastic stocking. If I am not wrong, then we have to hold it around tap for filling water in reservoir. If it can fit to tap in some way then our hands will be free. But even if it is not changed, this product is good to go.

I really liked the concept of The Reservoir -Emergency Water Storage System and would recommend this to everyone. This reservoir costs $14.95.
